ABSTRACT

Expanding on the Zipper Entanglement Renormalization framework proposed for 2−D chiral topological order, in this thesis we will discuss how to incorporate insights from Fermi liquid entanglement structures to overcome the logarithmic violation in entanglement structure. By treating the 2−D metallic input state as a combination of self-similar metallic sub-systems and 1−D metallic states in different orientations, ZER can accommodate the logarithmic entanglement behavior of L log L. Numerical computations on a 2D tightbinding model validate the methodology in handling metallic states, indicating its potential for Fermi liquids in 2−D post-area law systems.
