Content
- Force and motion: kinematics, dynamics; work, energy; linear momentum; projectile motion; circular motion
- Heat and gases: temperature, heat; transfer processes; change of state; ideal gas law, kinetic theory
- Electricity and magnetism: electrostatics; current, potential difference, circuits; magnetic force on a current-carrying wire; electromagnetic induction
- Waves and optics: waves and their properties; sound intensity level; reflection and refraction of light, image formation by mirrors and lenses
Remarks
- This course is for students with no physics background
- It is not a preparatory course for PHYS 1111
- Students with no calculus background who plan to take General Physics should take calculus concurrently with PHYS 1101 so that they meet the prerequisites for PHYS 1112.
- Exclusion: Level 3 or above in HKDSE 1/2x Physics or HIKDSE 1x Physics; any PHYS courses at 1100-level or above
