Content

  • Complex numbers, examples of vectors and matrices​
  • Basic concepts of probability, examples of quantum probability, quantum states, observables, measurements, dynamics
  • Classical and quantum bits, quantum gates, Multiple bits, multiple qubits, quantum entanglement, Circuits, quantum circuits, quantum supremacy
  • Simple quantum algorithms
  • Basic ideas of computational complexity, examples of quantum speedups, cryptography, examples of quantum cryptography, basic ideas of communication, examples of quantum communication
  • Overview of quantum software and hardware industry
  • Some contents may vary from year to year: discussion on latest developments in QIP, guest lectures from professionals/developers, lab tours, cloud computing experience

  • Prerequisite(s): Level 3 or above in HKDSE Mathematics Extended Module M2

    Exclusion(s): PHYS 4812
