Professor Kwok Yip Szeto joined the Department of Physics in 1991 as one of the founding members. He was a great educator and mentor. For almost 30 years with HKUST, he had made tremendous contributions to the development of the Department, and had been a very enthusiastic mentor to our students and alumni, many of whom he became close friends with. Professor Szeto was particularly supportive of undergraduate research. He had served on the UROP Advisory Board for more than a decade and had supervised many award-winning projects over the years.
