Course Description

Students in this course will apply the basic concepts of quantum mechanics to the topic of quantum information technology. The course will briefly introduce the foundations of quantum information science and discuss recent developments in realizing useful quantum devices for quantum communication, quantum computing and quantum simulation.

Content

  • Introduction to the quantum entanglement and the Bell's inequality;
  • Quantum circuit model; Deutsch's algorithm; Grover's algorithm;
  • Quantum error correction;
  • Quantum communication; Quantum key distribution, BB84 protocol and quantum teleportation;
  • Physical realization of qubits using photons, superconductors and cold atoms
