Condensed matter physics is one of the largest areas of research in physics which helps us to understand the properties of matters that we encounter in our daily life and more exotic matters such as the emerging quantum materials. The experimental condensed matter physics is the biggest research field in the department, studying a wide range of materials including two-dimensional materials such as graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides, topological matters, nanostructures, superconductors, to organic artificial structures, etc with various experimental techniques. The relevant group in this area comprises ten professors. For details, click on the links below for individual group webpages.
